I know I’ve said this before, but your blog has quickly become my favorite. Today I searched out other blogs you recommend and they are so enjoyable. the photos are perfect – just makes me want to run around all day taking pictures.

Thank you for this blog!!! Instinctively I want to garden so badly, but I stand outside looking at my yard utterly confused. Thank you for giving me a starting point. Raised beds here I come!!

By the way, I love Olive Barn!

You are welcome. For me, clearing the area was the best approach. It gave me a blank canvas to start over. I really enjoyed that SMARTDRAW program too. I got to play with several layouts BEFORE having to move anything.

We found a frog the size of a dime in Rockcastle county Kentucky climbing a grass blade. I have never seen a frog this little. Can you tell me anything about it?

Please tell me if it is possible to take cuttings of oleander and root it for new bushes?

Thank you,

I have successfully rooted oleander cuttings in water. All parts of the plant are poisionous – so use caution when handling. Please remember that some varieties of plants are patented can not be propagated, even for personal use. Be sure to check. Flowergardengirl wrote a post about this.

Have you heard from Camille Waters, The Lettuce Lady of Houston, since she moved to Higuera Blanca in 2007?

No one I know in Houston has heard from her, they seem to hardly remember her. One thinks she is still in Mexico growing lettuce for the big tourist hotels such as the Hyatt.

I was wondering if it was feasible to convert my st. augustine lawn into an herb lawn in Houston, Tx and what kind of herbs would do best with this?

That depends on the size of the lawn, how much sun it gets, etc. Visit a local nursery in your area for recommendations. Thyme makes a nice ground cover.
