Out of Body Experience For This Cicada

I am still trying to learn how to use my new camera, the Canon Rebel XSI. I am having a lot of fun experimenting with different settings. I went ahead and got the macro lens too, which is really amazing for these close-up shots. Cicadas are out in force this month in my Houston neighborhood and I’ve seen their empty shells all over the garden. You can hear them singing in trees in the evening. While this may look like a dead bug, it is not. It is the shell of a Cicada that has emerge through the back opening and flew away. I believe this is a green and black Cicada, Tibicen chloromera.

This website has some nice photos of the Cicada’s emerging.
