The experiment continues playing with aperature settings to blur the backgrounds. I took a few more shots of one of my favorite water lilies. I am using my Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera. The pictures below were taken with my macro lens (Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Digital SLR Lens) .
These water lily images are all from the very same flower. It is a Lindsey Woods tropical lily (Nymphaea ‘Lindsey Woods’). Drink in the color of this flower. It is so vibrant and rich, not to mention the heavenly sweet fragrance.
Water lily flowers last about three days. Fresh picked water lilies will last a few days in vase of water. Cut the stems with a scissor to avoid damaging the stems and allow them to stay hydrated. The flowers close at night, and sometimes in the afternoons too, especially right after you pick them. A way to gauge the age of the flower is to look at the center. If it is clean in the center, and the stamen (looks like thin fingers) are straight, it is probably the first day. When the stamens fold over onto the center, it is 2-3 days old. This flower below just open for the first time today. It should be around for a few days to enjoy.
